+A fabulous lorgnette necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920) period! Made of sterling silver with a darkened finish, the piece consists of a lorgnette pendant that hangs from a complimentary chain. The folding glasses are encased within a simple, yet stylish lorgnette case, which is decorated with small marcasites held within bead settings.The lorgnette case is also adorned with intricate milgrain detailing, which borders all of the marcasites. The glasses swing out with the push of a button located on the side of the handle. Clasped to the lorgnette glasses via a spring ring clasp is a complimentary sterling silver chain, which features eleven small pearls. The chain is also secured at the back by a spring ring clasp. The generous length of the chain allows it to easily slip on and off overhead, and it can be doubled for a stylish layered look. This special piece from the Art Deco period would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The slim lorgnette case measures 4" long, 1 5/8" at the widest point, and 1/4" at the thickest point. Each individual round lens measures 1 1/2" in diameter. When opened, the folding pair of glasses measures 3 3/4" wide. The chain measures 30" long, with a smaller 3" section of chain leading to the lorgnette case.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. The sterling silver setting is in great condition, and all of the marcasites are intact and secure. There is no damage to the eye glasses, which fold and move easily, and stay secure once placed in the encasement. Both glass lenses are intact. The spring button mechanism is in excellent working condition. Both spring ring clasps are secure and in working condition.
